Drive south, by central mountain road, stop somewhere in the middle.

Duties: Pick place to stay, book hotel.
Tuesday
Drive further south, cross tunnel to Aomori (青森). Also return car.
Things to do: Stop for tunnel museum? Aomori things to do?
Duties: Book hotel.
Wednesday
Travel south, maybe Shinkansen. Stop somewhere in the middle? Maybe Sendai (仙台) ?
Thursday
Travel to Tokyo (東京) by Shinkansen.
